Genesis Youth Trust has built a proven track record with over 20 years of offering wraparound services for rangatahi referred to us by the New Zealand Police and Oranga Tamariki across Tāmaki Makaurau. The heart behind everything we do is to offer hope, build resilience and walk alongside our rangatahi and their whānau to challenge adversity and find sustained solutions to the challenges they face.

  • We are looking an enthusiastic, motivated Youth Mentor; a role integral to the delivery of our mahi. You will have the opportunity to work with our rangatahi, playing a key role in facilitating change. You will be supported by a multidisciplinary team and will collaborate on the delivery of meaningful intervention plans, helping our young people to visualise and achieve their full potential. In return, we will actively support you with ongoing professional development opportunities, will pay for external monthly supervision and ensure you are well resourced.

    This role will be based in.......... but the mahi will be across a number of suburbs.

    The successful applicant will have:

    • Experience in working with youth in a mentoring context.
    • Have a heart for rangatahi and whānau, with an ability to build a professional relationship and rapport through trust and perseverance.
    •. Understand the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and how these are meaningfully applied in practice, including knowledge of tikanga Māori in a social work context.
    •. A track record of working culturally responsively with diverse rōpū such as rangatahi Māori, Pacific youth, LGBTQI*, and religious or other diversity.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills and be computer literate.
    •. The ability to take professional initiative while working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
    •. A full New Zealand Driver's License with no restrictions.
    •. New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency at time of application.
